Marvin worked his way through college as a CAD designer and detailer of pile driving equipment for MKT Manufacturing, Inc.  His work during college also included hands-on work in a steel fabrication shop as a welder/machine operator for Jack Patterson, Inc. (JPI).  After graduating from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE) in 1995, Marvin began working on hydraulic system designs and modeling for Caterpillar Corporation.   From there, he returned to work on custom material-handling, conveyor, structural platform, and carrier-hoist designs for JPI, mostly for the automotive industry.

In 2006, Marvin moved to Phoenix Process Engineering, Inc. (PPE).  At PPE, he was responsible for the mechanical design of several coal-handling systems including a 6500tph raw coal slope conveyor.  His work also included the design of a lime-kiln burner-carriage and a system design for firing pet-coke in a lime-kiln burner.  Marvin's work experience also includes work as a forensic engineer for Donan Engineering Company, Inc. conducting approximately 500 industrial and residential forensic engineering investigations.

Since joining FMC in October, 2011, Marvin has successfully managed the engineering design and layout of numerous material handling systems including Alliance Coal's Gibson South Mine and Peabody Coal's Gateway North Mine.  His work also includes the design of an emulsion building and compressed air-piping system for White Oak Resources.

Specializing in bulk flow design, Marvin is proficient in SolidWorks, PIPE-FLO Professional, Belt Analyst, and Bulk Flow Analyst, and AutoCAD software.  He has a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), and currently holds professional engineering licenses in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, and Kentucky.  Marvin maintains a National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) record and is affiliated with several professional societies including:
